7 Things To Know About Sin as a Believer and Follower of Jesus Christ.
Sin :
In the Bible, sin is defined as any thought, action, or behaviour that violates God’s will. It is considered to be a rebellion against God, and it separates humans from Him.
It is written; “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23), Sin brings about spiritual death, and it separates humans from God.
The following are ” 7″ Things To Know About Sin :
📌Sin is sweet and pleasurable to the eyes and flesh.
The woman sinned and ate the forbidden fruit because; she was convinced that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her Genesis 3:6
📌 Sin strips you naked.
“…At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.” Genesis 3:7
Sin strips a child of God of the covering of His glory.
Once the glory of the LORD God departs from a child of God, he or she becomes naked. Because the glory of the LORD God is a covering to every of His Child.
📌Sin brings shame to the life of a believer.
The guilt and shame of sin chase you away from the presence of God.
“When the cool evening breeze was blowing, the man and his wife heard the LORD God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the LORD God among the trees. Then the LORD God called to the man .”Where are you?”
He replied,” I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”
📌Sin always ends in pain and curses.
Then he said to the woman,
” I will sharpen the pain of pregnancy,
and in pain, you will give birth.
And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.”
And to the man he said,
” Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you.
All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. Genesis 3: 17-19
The consequences of Sin leave a sour taste in the mouth, long after the pleasure is gone.
📌Sins open you up for attacks from the enemy.
Every child of God has a hedge of protection surrounding him or her which builds a wall of protection around them.
Once he or she commits sin which is rebellion against God, the hedge is broken, and the enemy comes in to strike.
“…whoso breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him.” Ecclesiastes 10:8
📌The wages of Sin is Death.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
📌Sin displaces you from the Garden of Eden. Your place of glory, ease, and provisions.
So the LORD banished them from the garden of Eden, and he sent Adam out to cultivate the ground from which he had been made. Genesis 3: 23
Beloved, Sin; “Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious!” Proverbs 9:17 but the consequences and the danger it poses to you as a child of God is much more damning than any pleasure you will derive from it.
Most times, we are quick to point out ‘big sins’ like fornication and adultery, but there are no big or small sins.
Sin is sin.
Lying is a sin, backbiting is a sin, keeping malice is a sin, cheating is a sin, unforgiveness, stealing is a sin, and Gossip is a sin.
Our accuser Satan uses ‘little’ sins we don’t count on to weaken our spiritual lives.
Yes, we are humans and have weaknesses, but living above sin is not impossible with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Scripture says ” You can do All Things through Christ that strengthens you.” Philippians 4:13
If you are overtaken by your weakness, the Holy Spirit through your conscience convicts you. Repent quickly and ask God for forgiveness.
Repentance is the key.
While the enemy Satan wants us to wallow in guilt and shame for our sins, to permanently hold us in bondage, the LORD God forgives us ahead of us and does not care how bad our sin is.
Even while we were yet sinners He died for our sins. Romans 5:8
When we pray the LORD’s prayer, give us our daily bread comes before forgive us our trespasses even as we forgive those who trespass against us. But the devil will have always God’s children dwell and wallow in guilt and shame so that they miss out on the forgiveness available to them even before they sin.
This is exactly what happened to Adam In the Garden of Eden He went to hide when he heard the LORD walking in the cool of the evening. Because of shame and guilt that he was naked.
Just as it was in the Garden of Eden, so it is today.
When we sin, we run away from the presence of the LORD God, when in fact we should run to Him.
Beloved do not let the enemy deceive and guilt-trip you into self-pity because you sinned.
The LORD God gave His Only-begotten Son; Jesus Christ to die on the cross. His shed Blood cleanses all mankind and covers us from every accusation of the accuser of the brethren Satan. John 3: 16
“You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.” Hebrews 12:24
