Her Blood Her Life was daily slipping away and there was nothing humanly possible she could do about it.
She woke up drenched in sweat, tired and reluctant to leave her bed. What is there to wake up to again? She has nothing to call her own anymore.
It feels like a dream, but the truth is that she has come to terms with the reality and truth that;
“the bleeding will not stop’’.
When it started, she supposed it to be the usual mensuration often called ‘period’ or the ‘red visitor’ as some women call it.
“Mensuration or red visitor is the process in which a woman discharges through her vagina blood and other materials through the lining of the uterus at about one-month intervals. This discharging process lasts about 3-5 Days or in some cases 7 days”.
She brought out only the pieces of cloth to use for the 5-7 days the “red visitor” is expected to last. (the pieces of cloth are cut from different fabrics and are placed in a woman’s undergarments to absorb her menstrual blood).
After 7 days, she observed that this particular ‘red visitor’ has overstayed its proverbial welcome and she wondered why? At first, she paid it no mind. She felt the change in the no of days the period lasted could be a result of; what she ate, the weather, or a change in her body system. Day 8, day 9, and counting to day 14, she knew within her that it was time to be worried as her mensuration has never run this way before.
She spoke to her friend to know if she has ever had a similar experience, and what she did to make it stop. Her friend said: NO! but advised that she visits the Physician, to be on the safe side.
The mensuration came with painful cramps and heavy bleeding soaking through all the pieces of cloth she put to keep it from staining her. It restricted her daily activities as due to the heavy blood flow, she was always tired, anaemic, fatigued, and had shortness of breath which were all a result of the heavy bleeding.
Going to see the Physician was not the problem ‘but’ she was scared of the possible outcome of the diagnosis report. Her imagination on the other hand was not helpful.
Finally, she summoned the courage to face her fears. She visited the Physician and after waiting for about an hour, was ushered in to see him. They had the Physician and Patient chat and consultation after which he recommended different Tests and scans to be carried out, so as to find out what exactly was making the Mensuration flow more than it should.
The Tests and Scan results came out, but they did not give an answer or reason ‘why’ her Mensuration was prolonged and the heavy bleeding, neither did all the Medications prescribed by the Physician work.
The bleeding got worse.
This is the heavy burden she had to carry by herself for the past “12 years”.
12 years of bleeding blood.
Mensuration which was supposed to last for 7 days turned into 12 years of bleeding blood for no medically ascertained reason.
She suffered a great deal from many Physicians (doctors) these past 12 years. Sold off everything she had to pay off her medical bills. She did not get better.
All her money was gone.
Friends and family all turned their back on her. They did not want to be tagged ‘unclean’ or to be identified with an ‘unclean woman’.
Although life was leaving her daily as she bled; ‘for the life of the flesh is in the blood’ Leviticus 17: 11a, she refused to give up. She was determined to either find a solution or die trying.
What do I do next? she thought in her heart.
Word on the street is that there is a Man called JESUS who goes about healing the sick, raising the dead, doing great miracles, and having multitudes following Him anywhere He went.
She thought to herself; ‘if I can just touch the hem of His robe (garment), I will be healed.
Another thought came; what if I’m not healed? what if I’m caught and accused of making people unclean?
How do I break forth through the multitude to touch the hem of His robe, (garment) when I’m feeling tired and dizzy from much bleeding?
Lost in her thoughts and all the questions in her mind, she heard a noise outside that Jesus as His custom was, is passing by with multitudes following.
She hurriedly dressed up and ran after Him, pushing through the throng (the crowd) with all the strength in her, and touched his robe.
Immediately, the bleeding stopped. She felt in her body that she was healed.
Oh! My God, it worked! She exclaimed with joy in her heart as she tried to sneak out quietly, as she thought no one noticed what had happened to her. But Jesus knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, stopped abruptly, turned around, and asked;
“Who touched my robe?”
His disciples said to Him, “Look at the crowd pressing around you. How can you ask who touched me?”
When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden began to tremble, fell to her knees and told Him the whole truth as the crowd heard her explain why she touched Jesus and immediately received her healing.
Daughter, He said to her, “Your faith has made you well”. Go in peace and be healed of your disease.
Dear beloved, the WORD of God says;
for the life of the body is in its blood
Leviticus 17:11 (NLT)
Every day for 12 years, this woman’s life kept going out of her as she bled uncontrollably.
To make matters worse, the Physicians (doctors) who were meant to have answers and solutions, had none for her.
The Bible recorded that she suffered many things in the hand of the Physicians perhaps as she was desperate to find solutions on how to make the blood stop but none of them could help her.
An encounter with Jesus Christ changed her life and brought a solution that defiled all medical solutions for 12 years.
I want you to know, that it doesn’t matter what you and I are going through right now, and the name it’s called; famine, cancer, fibroid, distress of any kind, death of a loved one, unpaid bills, debts owed, marriage divorce, storms and challenges of life and you feel like giving up?
Don’t Give Up!
The Book of Romans Chapter 8:35 -39 New Living Translation (NLT) tells us that ‘nothing’ can separate from the LOVE of God, and no matter what comes our way, we are CONQUERORS.
‘Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s Love? Does
it means He no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity,
or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or
threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake
we are killed every day; we are slaughtered like sheep”)
NO, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours
through Jesus Christ, who loved us.
And I am convinced that NOTHING CAN EVER SEPARATE US
from God’s LOVE …
Jesus Christ loves you deeply and nothing including your present circumstances and challenges can separate you from this Love. For this Love, He died for Us.
Come to Him. He has all the answers you seek. I pray that as you come to Him, just like the woman with the issue of blood, you will be made whole.
God Bless You
