Dear Ancestor, What Would You Be Remembered For?
As an African Christian, at least 60% of our prayer points are on ancestral powers and spirit, foundational powers, generational curses, and attacking and limiting our lives and destinies.
Many of us when we trace our ancestral lineage and hear of the atrocities they committed in the past during their timeline and generation, cannot help but shudder and intensify our prayers.
Some Pastor and clergymen and women, In the guise of offering a solution and liberation from these ancestral curses and foundational powers, have leveraged it to milk dry the laity, putting them through all forms of dehumanizing theatrics to get monetary and material wealth with which to satisfy their lustful pleasures and in the end, the promised solution is no the way in sight.
In some cases, after the said spiritual bath by the man of god and his sexual taking advantage of her because of her desperation, the said lady ends up not being pregnant.
While some do, which the man of god adds to his CV as a miracle worker who prays for the barren ad they conceive.
Where this is the case, the laity becomes more confused and helpless, as it would appear, that these ancestral forces and powers are more powerful than the LORD God and the man of god.
Dear Christian believer,
It’s so easy to pray against our ancestors, point fingers at them, and call down fire from heaven to destroy them and burn every link we have with them because of the things we are suffering, due to how they lived, the choices they made, which has attracted certain curses and consequences upon them and their generations unborn which you are one of them.
But,
Are you aware that you are the ancestor of tomorrow?
Are you aware that you and I are the ancestors that the generation coming would pray about tomorrow?
The ancestors we are praying against and about today, were men and women that lived here on earth like you and I are doing now, but today they are no more. Their generation and timeline have passed, and you and I are living as the generation after them.
If the next generation that comes after you stand praying, will they thank God for you and the life you
lived, or will they call down fire upon you, like you are doing against your ancestors before you today?
No man lives forever now on earth until perhaps tomorrow when science solves the mystery behind ageing and dying.
Till then, every man born here on earth lives out their life span and like other men and women before them, they die and are buried.
The life cycle continues on and on and on.
Think and reflect,
What are the decisions and actions you are taking today whose consequences will mar and afflict your generations after you as an ancestor tomorrow?
Prophet Elisha served Elijah and got a double portion of Elijah’s anointing but Gehazi who served Elisha would have gotten triple anointing which is the combination of Prophet Elijah’s anointing plus his master Elisha’s anointing and would have become one of the most powerful and anointed Prophet in the Old Testament during his generation.
His “Greed and Lust” for material wealth, cost him a triple portion of the anointing of his master and instead of blessings, he got the “ Curse of Leprosy” clinging upon him and his descendants forever.
“But Elisha asked him, “Don’t you realize that I was there in spirit when Naaman stepped down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to receive money and clothing, olive groves, vineyards, sheep and cattle, and male and female servants? Because you have done this, you and your descendants will suffer Naaman’s leprosy forever. When Gehazi left the room, he was covered with leprosy; his skin was white as snow. 2 Kings 5:26-27
Oh! what a generational tragedy.
The curse Prophet Elisha placed on Gehazi and his descendants, all his generations are ‘ forever.’ Let that
link in.
Take a minute to imagine how life is and has been for all the generations born in the lineage of Gehazi, in the land of Israel from his time till today.
All of them due to no fault of theirs are born leprous as white as snow and they are not allowed to
mingle, relate, or network with other children neither will other parents allow their children to play or visit them because they are the family of the leprous.
They are “Unclean” and cannot live amongst non-leprous people.
No one will buy from them or sell to them and they are not allowed to leave the camp where they reside.
Beautiful and handsome children who grow to become adults who can never have a life outside their leprous community.
Why?
Because of their great father Gehazi thousands of generations passed, and as a result of his decision
and actions incurred the curse of his master Elishan instead of the triple portion of his anointing.
Surely you cannot expect them to be happy with that ancestor. They would always curse and pray against him and every tie they have with him, with pain and anguish in their heart.
Hophni and Phinehas the two sons of Eli the priest whose ancestor was Aaron the priest disrespected the LORD God and their office as priests through their various actions like;
Seducing the young women who assisted at the entrance of the Tabernacle,
Scorning the LORD’s sacrifices and offerings, and treating them with contempt whilst they became fat from feeding from the best offerings of the people of God Israel.
In passing judgment LORD through the mouth of the messenger He sent to Eli their father said,
“ The time is coming when I will put an end to your family, so it will no longer serve me as a priest. All the members of your family will die before their time. None will reach old age. You will watch with envy as I pour out prosperity on the people of Israel. But no members of your family will ever live out their days. The few not cut off from serving my altar will survive, but only so their eyes can go blind and their hearts break, and their children will die a violent death. And to prove that what I said will come true, I will cause your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, to die on the same day.”
Then I will raise a faithful priest who will serve me and do what I desire, I will establish his family, and they will be my anointed kings forever. Then all of your surviving family will bow before him, begging for money and food. ‘Please,’ they will say, ‘give us jobs among the priests so we will have enough to eat. 1 Samuel 2:36
My God!
Every action we take in our daily lives, as we go about our ministry and purpose on earth, irrespective of the office we occupy or the capacity in which we are serving, has consequences. The priesthood which was meant to be in their family forever was closed down, because of the actions of Hophni and Phinehas, not just that, untimely death, sudden blindness and their hearts are broken, their children dying violent death and their families members now begging to be given a job among the priests.
The descendants of Hophni and Phinehas, will forever curse them and regret being born into such a family and being a part of their generation.
I can imagine the kind of prayers they would be praying for. Their pain and torment, sorrow, hardship, distress, heartbreak, heartache each time they experience the sudden death of a young loved one or sudden blindness, and anguish as they suffer poverty and beg to eat from people occupying priestly positions that should have been theirs, for what they know nothing about because of the actions of ancestor Hophni and Phinehas.
Ancestral family curses have patterns, and the most agonizing thing about it is that some people suffer ignorantly and are operating under curses they do not know their “ Source.”
You are the ancestor that changes everything for your bloodline. The decisions you make today could easily affect generations to come.
Before you start pointing fingers at your ancestors, fasting, or shouting at the top of your voice in prayer against your ancestors, make sure you are not doing the same thing that your ancestors did during their lifetime, which has kept you where you are now.
The actions that attract these generational curses are little things that we count as nothing, but they have damning consequences.
For example :
- You and your partners enter into an agreement and carry out a business transaction, you cheat them and take the whole money for yourself.
- You are entrusted with money you abscond with it.
- You borrow the money you don’t pay back. The one who lend you the money is left heartbroken and perhaps from the pain in their heart they say a word over your life, your children, and even your generation unborn. “ The wicked borrow and never repay, but the righteous are generous givers.” Psalm 37:21
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21
Scripture did not say there is power in your tongue only when a pastor or priest speaks over your life.
You were not there, but spirits and demons that see to the spoken words are always lurking around.
Words in the spirit realm are very serious and powerful.
Everything we see today was created by WORDs spoken by the LORD God in Genesis Chapter 1.
- You steal people’s sweat ( money ) properties; phones, gadgets, cars, at gunpoint.
- You betray your friends and destroy their relationships and marriage.
Satan holds unto little things as legal grounds to prevent our blessings.
- You kill and take life.
The LORD God himself is against a man shedding innocent blood. Every bloodshed speaks out against the individual who was killed.
Whatever you sow (good or bad) you will reap it. That’s how God has ordained life to be.
“ Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
So I ask beloved,
What kind of seed are you sowing for your generations coming to reap?
Your actions can either bring curses upon you and your generation, or they can bring blessings.
Jonathan sowed good seed in the life of David who later became king. He died on a battlefield with his father, but his son Mephibosheth reaped it.
If Jonathan had treated David badly and sowed a bad seed, how life would have been for his crippled only surviving son?
Abraham’s actions, faith, and walk with the LORD God brought upon his children and descendants generational covenant and blessings.
Everything you do today is not just about you alone, but about you and your seeds after you.
You are the ancestor the next generation will pray about tomorrow.
Would they bless God for you and the decisions you are making now or would they curse you out?
Every action has consequences.
What are you sowing into the soil of life?
Good or evil seeds?
Curses or blessings?
The crisis some people are facing in purpose, ministry marriage and career, education, businesses, and their lives is a result of a defiled foundation linked to the actions of their ancestors in past generations.
The Scripture says, in Psalm 11:1, If the foundation be wrong, what can the righteous do?”
The Righteous Can Pray The Prayer Of Inquiry And Ask God For Mercy
Beloved, when you observe that things are not right in your life or that of your family or anyone around you, running from one prayer mountain to another, from pastor to pastor seeking a solution is not the answer.
Once they sense your desperation, they will take advantage of the situation to milk you dry, take advantage of you, especially for all the fake prophets and men of god masquerading as God’s faithful servant, at the end they will leave you dry, devastated and more confused than you were before you met them.
I have been their victim, in a bid to seek a solution to a generational family challenge.
I saw hell in their hands and all my money was gone and there was no solution.
Prayer of ‘Inquiry to the LORD’ to find out the lead cause of the faulty foundation, is what you need to do first.
The LORD God is a revealer of secrets.
In the Scripture, it is written,
“ Call on me and I will show you great and mighty things which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3
It is also written,
“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 29:29
Generational foundational defilement cannot be corrected until God reveal what is wrong. The things the LORD God will reveal may be shocking.
When you have obeyed kingdom principles and yet nothing seems to be changing, pray the inquiry prayer.
Speak to the Holy Spirit, and ask Him questions. Tell him to reveal the “Source” of the problem to you. He knows all things.
Beloved, we all need the mercy of God to prevail over our lives and destinies.
The mercy of God is an act of His sovereignty that overrules all of our actions and that of our ancestors’ past.
Which is why it is written, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy upon, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion .” Romans 9:15
If the generational foundation is defiled, what can the believer do?
The believer can ask the LORD God for mercy so that his or her faulty foundation can be corrected.
God’s forgiveness and mercy are new every morning and unquestionable, yet the accuser of the brethren Satan always seeks to torment people with the consequences of actions taken in the past.
Indeed if any man is in Christ, old things are passed away, but that speaks of the forgiveness of our sin and our newness in Christ but not the consequences of certain actions except mercy prevail.
Many believers are suffering for the evil actions and decisions they and their ancestors took in the past.
It doesn’t mean God has not forgiven them. He has.
It is just the natural law of sowing and reaping that is at work. Nothing more.
One prayer that God never says No to, is the prayer of mercy.
Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 12:13
No matter how terrible your past actions are, or that of your ancestor before you, the mercy of God is available to prevail and make amend.
All you need to do is ask.
A broken heart and a contrite spirit He will not overlook. Psalm 51:17
If any man comes to Him, He will no while cast him away. John 6:37
Dear Ancestor,
No matter how dark and bad your foundation may be, there is speaking blood that speaks better things than that of Abel. Hebrews 12:24
The LORD our God is a loving Father and he’s more than willing to correct the faulty foundation of your life beloved.
Come to Him today, and receive mercy to overcome.
Blind Bartimaeus called out to Him and received mercy to have his sight restored.
Call out to Him; Father! Have mercy on me.
No matter how terrible your past actions or that of your ancestors were, mercy can prevail over judgment.
